The Warriors expect to sign head coach Steve Kerr to a contract extension next summer, The Chronicle has confirmed with a team spokesman.
The Athletic’s Tim Kawakami was the first to report the news.
Though Kerr and the Warriors began to discuss an extension last summer, Kerr opted to wait until next summer for final discussions so he could make sure he was healthy enough to make a long-term commitment.
“We just agreed we’d wait,” Kerr told The Athletic. “I’ve got two years left on my deal and wanted to make sure that everything went well this year health-wise.
