The Warriors have cut the cord on veteran public address announcer Matt Hurwitz, according to The Athletic.
Hurwitz, a native San Franciscan, manned the Warriors’ PA mic for 18 years, from the 17-65 powerhouse squad of coach Dave Cowens to the team’s third NBA championship in four seasons.
“It was amicable,” Hurwitz said in a phone interview with sfgate.com. “There were no hard feelings.”
The team didn’t give a reason for the change.
“We’ve simply elected to go in a new direction and hit the reset button with some of our in-game programming,” Warriors vice president of communications Raymond Ridder said in a statement.
