OAKLAND — Clippers coach Doc Rivers compares Oracle Arena to the old Boston Garden, but said the similarities have nothing to do with the structures themselves.
“It’s a great venue because of the fans. It’s not a great venue because of the building,” Rivers said before Game 1 of the Warriors-Clippers playoff series that initiates the franchise’s final postseason run at Oracle.
“It’s like the Boston Garden. The fans made the Boston Garden. The same thing with the fans here,” said Rivers, who coached the Celtics for eight seasons through 2013.
Golden State will move into the new Chase Center in San Francisco next season.
