Warriors associate head coach Alvin Gentry missed Saturday’s practice as he flew back from New Orleans, where he interviewed for the Pelicans’ head coach opening with executive vice president Mickey Loomis and general manager Dell Demps.
Gentry, who is making about $800,000 with the Warriors this season, is the first known candidate to get a second interview with New Orleans. He met with the Pelicans’ brass last week in San Francisco and had his second meeting late Friday in New Orleans.
Vinny Del Negro, Tom Thibodeau and Jeff Van Gundy are also considered candidates for the job, which has been open since New Orleans fired Monty Williams on May 12.
