Seven weeks ago, UCSF announced its support for the Golden State Warriors new arena in San Francisco at Mission Bay.
Now, that support seems to be muddled after a group of 20 UCSF scientists penned a letter to San Francisco mayor Ed Lee arguing against the arena plan.
“We are seriously concerned that this future is threatened by the plan to construct a very large sports, entertainment, and event arena in our midst,” the scientists wrote, via the San Francisco Chronicle.
The two main problems discussed by the scientists are that Mission Bay will become less appealing to biotech researchers and the traffic issue that could impeded access to UCSF hospitals during events.
