We knew that the Golden State Warriors would be getting a new starting five on Thursday for their showdown with the Los Angeles Clippers on NBA TV. We knew that because Draymond Green has been suspended indefinitely, and so he’ll need to be replaced.
The logical guess was that third-year forward Jonathan Kuminga, who has been playing exceptionally lately, would take Green’s place. That proved to be true. But what we didn’t know is that there would be another change in the starting lineup, too.
Just over half an hour before Thursday’s game, it was reported that Steve Kerr was moving veteran wing Andrew Wiggins to the bench, and replacing him with rookie guard Brandin Podziemski, creating a new starting five of Podziemski, Kuminga, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevon Looney.
