The Warriors have attached extra meaning to Friday’s matchup again Washington at the Oracle by honoring a man that is significant to the franchise’s history. The Warriors will present “Al Attles Night,” which will feature video tributes played and bobbleheads handed out to fans.
But Attles himself will not be in his customary seat for the occasion.
“He’s okay, but he’s in the hospital for a couple of days,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.
The 81-year-old Attles is leave the hospital soon. In the meantime, Attles’ family will attend Friday’s game on his behalf. While players plan to shirts featuring Attles’ likeness, Kerr said he plans to wear a retro suit similar to what Attles wore when he was the Warriors’ head coach from 1970 to 1983.
