SAN FRANCISCO — Another loss, another injury.
Just another day for the Golden State Warriors.
Friday night at Chase Center, it was D’Angelo Russell going down with a sprained right thumb, and the Celtics claiming a victory over the Dubs, 105-100.
It’s as if the basketball gods are exacting revenge on the Warriors for five years of wild success by smoting one metacarpal at a time.
The severity of Russell’s injury isn’t yet known — x-rays were negative but he’ll undergo an MRI Saturday — but he did not return after leaving the game in the third quarter Friday, and the Warriors’ lack of a shot creator on offense in the final moments of the contest proved to be one of the key differences.
