Minnesota Timberwolves head coach and president of basketball operations Phil 'Flip' Saunders passed away, the team announced on Sunday.
He was 60 years old.
It was announced by team owner Glen Taylor that Saunders would not be back with the Timberwolves this season as he continued to battle cancer.
Saunders announced in August he was being treated for Hodgkin lymphoma.
