BOSTON — Klay Thompson knows he’s going to have to do some serious persuading about the health of his right ankle before the Warriors let him play Friday against the Celtics.
So, he got a head start Thursday.
After Thursday’s practice at Emerson College, Thompson picked up a weighted tennis ball and threw a series of pitches across the width of the floor — pushing vigorously off his sprained ankle each time.
“I’m optimistic,” Thompson said. “If I have a good shootaround Friday, I think I’ll play.”
Thompson rolled his ankle when he landed on teammate Shaun Livingston’s foot during the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s win at Indiana.
