The Richer Get Richer with Warriors’ Acquisition of Jason Thompson

Amidst the MLB trade deadline, Golden State Warriors made a deal of their own.

No, they didn’t trade for a superstar or even somebody who will play 20 minutes a game, but the player they traded for makes the best and deepest team in the NBA even deeper.

So who did the Warriors trade for? Jason Thompson, formerly of the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors took advantage of the helpless Philadelphia 76ers to acquire Thompson, sending Gerald Wallace to Philly. This trade is phenomenal on a number of accounts.

First off, the Warriors shed $10 million of deadweight for a player who will be a contributor this season.
