I was exiting Oracle Arena’s lower bowl with this blog’s preceptor after Saturday night’s game when our conversation reached the topic of the Golden State Warriors’ putrid start to the game. Spotting a team 15 points is a recipe for disaster in the NBA, where even players at the end of the bench can contribute if given the opportunity. The Warriors, however, have made a living off of those kinds of horrible starts, with their otherworldly talent giving them the ability to flip the proverbial switch as needed. The danger? Sometimes, that switch blows a fuse. As I was driving to Oracle, news broke that James Harden would not be playing due to a hodgepodge of maladies (flu like symptoms and a neck strain among them).
