For some strange reason, one of my favorite movies as a child was Space Jam. Something about a wooden, but charismatic, Michael Jordan hamming it up (somewhat literally) with Porky Pig, Bugs Bunny, and Daffy Duck against a bunch of aliens for the fate of the world made me, a short, scrawny Indian kid with no athleticism to speak of, feel like maybe I too could become good at basketball. One of the iconic scenes from that movie is when the Monstars, the aliens charged with taking down the Looney Tunes, steal the basketball skills of NBA players like Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Larry Johnson, and Muggsy Bogues, leaving them utterly incapable of playing in the NBA.
