Desperate times appear to have called for desperate measures for the Golden State Warriors with just a few days before the trade deadline.
While other Western Conference teams were involved in the biggest trades of the season — including one move that might be one of the biggest trades in league history — the Warriors, sitting 11th in the West at 24-24, were quite inactive. Marc Stein reported Sunday that Golden State moved on from targeting Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic of the Chicago Bulls “to focus on other trade pursuits.” That would have been code for chasing Jimmy Butler, but ESPN’s Brian Windhorst later reported that same day that the embattled Heat guard killed trade talks because he didn’t want to sign an extension with the Dubs.
