Steve Kerr reflects on MLK Day’s significance

In 1998, when Steve Kerr’s son was 5 years old, Nick Kerr came home from Kindergarten upset. With a little prodding, Steve learned that Nick was sad that he hadn’t received an invitation to Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday.

It’s a memory Steve, now in his third season as the Warriors’ head coach, revisits every Martin Luther King, Jr., Day. On Monday, wearing a black Adidas shirt with the late Civil Rights leader’s likeness, touched upon that anecdote before discussing the significance of Monday’s holiday.

“In all seriousness, it’s a great day,” Kerr said.
