DALLAS – Even when he sat on the bench, Warriors coach Steve Kerr often thought only one thing when a fight broke out between one of his teammates and an opponent.
“There goes five-grand,” Kerr often said.
That’s because Kerr and other NBA players received contradictory messages. The NBA would fine players for leaving the bench anytime a fight broke out. Yet, NBA teams expected players to react a different way.
“You had to show your teammate that you cared about him, but it was a ridiculous fight.”” Kerr said before the Warriors played the Mavericks on Monday.
