CLEVELAND -- Steve Kerr found time to honor a former playoff foe before Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday night.
The Warriors coach paid tribute to Brooks Thompson, who played in the NBA from 1994-98. He and Kerr squared off as backup guards in the 1996 Eastern Conference finals.Thompson died Thursday at age 45. No cause of death was immediately released.Kerr, unprompted, brought up the topic at the end of his pregame news conference."I just want to give my condolences to his family," Kerr said. "I just cannot believe the year it's been for the NBA and for so many people in the NBA who have lost loved ones.
