CLEVELAND — Steve Kerr has never met Kyle Shanahan, but he’s come to appreciate the 49ers head coach from afar.
Kerr, who has won three championships since taking the Warriors’ head coaching job in 2014, has seen San Francisco’s football team transition out of the Jim Harbaugh era and endure four-straight losing seasons before making it to Sunday’s Super Bowl LIV under the third-year 49ers coach.

“To think about how far they’ve come in so little time, rebuilding a team on the fly, it’s amazing,” Kerr said Saturday. “And those two guys, (general manager) John (Lynch) and Kyle, have been at the forefront of everything.
