Klay Thompson’s first-quarter 3-pointer Wednesday was more than just your everyday trey. It made Thompson and Stephen Curry the first teammates in NBA history to notch 200 3s each in five straight seasons.
That milestone might have been to-be-expected entering this season, since both Warriors stars have hit 200-plus 3s the last four seasons. Still, it added an element to the idea that Curry and Thompson are the best backcourt in the league today.
Curry averaged 305.25 buckets from deep over the past four seasons and Thompson averaged 237.25. Neither is on pace to match last season’s totals — when they were the first-ever duo to combine for 600-plus 3s in a season — but that is clearly because of the addition of Kevin Durant.
