CLEVELAND -- Lost in the midst of the Cleveland Cavaliers' disappointing and uninspired blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors was the league-wide celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s lasting legacy.
One of the most impactful, and recognizable, civil rights activists in history, Dr. King was honored by a slate of games across the NBA -- some tipping off during mid-afternoon hours -- complete with produced tributes and gray shooting shirts that read “MLK” across the chest.
Athletes have this unique podium. A role model-type responsibility to influence future generations through their words and actions, on and off the playing surface.
