Run Over By A Freight Train (Warriors 99, Nets 125)

We can’t really say that this result was unexpected, to be frank. Without a meaningful training camp or Summer League, with a very short preseason, and without Klay Thompson, the Golden State Warriors facing the superpowered Brooklyn Nets on opening night was always going to be a potential bloodbath. And with two key rotation pieces in Draymond Green and James Wiseman absent from all of training camp and the preseason due to COVID-19 protocols, and Draymond Green’s announced absence from this contest due to injury…a blowout was more than possible, it was probable. That prefacing doesn’t make the outcome taste much better, however, with the Nets riding monster first and third quarters to leads that got as high as 38 before the Dubs clawed back some of those points in garbage time.
