Canyon Barry is accustomed to the stares. Whenever the former Florida guard attempts a foul shot in a new gymnasium, a crowd of bewildered spectators inevitably gathers around him.
“What’d you just do?” they often ask.
His underhanded free throws aren’t so strange to Canyon because his father, Warriors legend Rick Barry, perfected that granny-style motion long before Canyon was born. With the NBA draft looming Thursday, Canyon hopes to bring the underhanded foul shot back to Golden State.
He was one of six fringe prospects at the Warriors’ practice facility Tuesday morning trying to convince general manager Bob Myers, who doesn’t have a pick, to trade into the second round or sign them as undrafted free agents.
