Circumstances in the United States haven’t changed much since the last time I posted. In fact, if anything, things have gotten worse as the COVID-19 case count and death toll continue to rise. And, while awareness of the issues have increased, centuries of racial inequity cannot be erased over just a few weeks. It is in front of this sad backdrop that the NBA has restarted its season, with 22 teams entering the Disneyworld bubble and restarting play over the last few weeks. The above issues are important and certainly aren’t going anywhere – but I’d be lying if I said that after the past 6 months of sad news and mind-numbing isolation, I wasn’t looking forward to 48 minute stretches of distraction.
