The Golden State Warriors were an abject disaster this season, which presented longtime play-by-play announcer Bob Fitzgerald with an unusual silver lining: For the first time, he could call NBA playoff games for other teams on a national stage. Except, of course, the 2020 postseason is taking place during a global pandemic. So for 17 days, through the conclusion of the Eastern Conference’s first round, Fitzgerald hunkered down in Disney World, where the NBA has attempted to create a “bubble.”
When Fitzgerald arrived in Orlando, he had a 36-hour quarantine period in his hotel room, while he waited on a negative COVID-19 test result.
