Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry, in his pregame news conference Tuesday, was asked about the Warriors’ so-called “Hamptons Five” lineup. Gentry chuckled and asked the reporter what the nickname meant.
Once it was explained — four Warriors players traveled to a resort in the Hamptons to court Kevin Durant during free agency — Gentry took the conversation down a fresh road.
“That’s what I thought,” he said. “You can call them any kind of five — they’re really good. I mean, you can call them the Jackson 5.”
Then, asked which Warriors player was Michael Jackson and which was Tito — a reference to the actual Jackson 5 band — Gentry said, “I think we know who Michael is.
