I thought for the longest time that there’d be virtually nothing to learn from last night’s game. Except that the W’s were listless and disengaged—and that playing a game against a defunct Lakers’ team that was even minus the vets who’d defuncted them (why did those guys even fly up?) seemed baldly motivation-less. It wasn’t even a good scrimmage.
Reggie Miller said at one point: “Is this a pre-season game?” That felt about right. But a bad pre-season game.
I hadn’t expected much. Certainly hadn’t expected a ramped-up W’s team playing for all the marbles. But I had hoped for a coolly efficient workmanlike performance.
