Unions representing both NBA players and the league’s officials will meet on Saturday during NBA All-Star weekend in Los Angeles to discuss season-long tensions that has contributed to a high volume of ejections and technical fouls.

In a joint statement released by the National Basketball Players Association and the National Basketball Referees Association, both parties will meet privately in hopes of “furthering communication and transparency.”

“This meeting provides a rare opportunity for our players to talk directly with the referees off the court, away from the immediate pressures and emotions of the game,” NBPA executive director Michele Roberts said in a statement.
