One day after an event arranged by a group supportive of the Warriors effort to build an arena in the Mission Bay district of San Francisco, the coalition vowing vociferous opposition is fighting back.
The Mission Bay Alliance, a group of wealthy University of California, San Francisco donors, citing “a coalition of world-class scientists,” issued a news release Thursday blasting the project, branding it a disaster for San Francisco.
The MBA, boasting signatures from 20 scientists, some of whom are members of the UCSF faculty, went a step further, crafting a letter urging Mayor Ed Lee to shut down the entire project.
