Kurtenbach: What we learned in the Warriors’ loss to the Lakers

The rivalry is back.

No, not Warriors-Lakers — that’s never been much of a rivalry.

I’m talking about Lebron James vs. The Warriors.

After four years, you better bet that’s a rivalry.

On Wednesday, in Las Vegas, James’ Lakers (it’s still strange to see him in an admittedly great Lakers jersey) and the Warriors squared off in the teams’ penultimate preseason affairs.

And while the game didn’t count in the standings, it sure felt like it mattered in the first half. There was a tremendous energy to the contest.

Ultimately, the Lakers won — James was stellar and the Warriors phoned it in come the second half — but Golden State can extract some meaningless revenge Friday in San Jose, when the two teams will meet again for a preseason finale.
