The Golden State Warriors didn’t make a trade before today’s trade deadline, but they can still upgrade their roster before the start of the 2018 playoffs.
Now that the trade market is closed, another robust market has opened: the buyout market.
The Warriors, who had the largest payroll in the NBA going into Thursday (after the Cavs traded half their roster, I honestly don’t know if that is still the case), were going to be hard-pressed to bring back serious value at the trade deadline. The assets they wanted to move wouldn’t bring back any real value, and the assets other teams wanted, the Warriors didn’t want to move.
