OAKLAND — LeBron James turned in one of the greatest single-game NBA Finals performances of all time — one of the finest performances of his perhaps unparalleled career.

It wasn’t enough.

Put rooting interests and allegiances aside for a moment — think about this in only the sporting realm, where success is celebrated and the playing field is even.

What happened Thursday night was not fair.

James, who scored 51 points, deserved better. He became the sixth player to ever score 50 points in an NBA Finals game and the only one to lose that contest.
