The Golden State Warriors have likely missed out on Paul George after he declined his player option on Saturday. Now, it looks like their pursuit of George has pushed franchise legend Klay Thompson away from the only team he’s played for.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater reported on Saturday afternoon that the Warriors are “preparing to lose” Thompson in free agency, saying the two player and team have had “close to no communication” in the past two weeks. The Athletic’s duo also identified the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers as teams “expected to be among strong suitors” for Thompson.
