LAS VEGAS – Just like the countless tourists that visit this city, the Warriors did not flinch with gambling on their future.
To ensure they received something for Kevin Durant leaving for Brooklyn, the Warriors acquired D’Angelo Russell in a sign-and-trade that both bolstered their backcourt and compromised their cap flexibility. With the Warriors then subject to a hard cap, it appeared uncertain if they could afford to re-sign Kevon Looney.
“I was thinking what everybody else was thinking: ‘Man, what will it mean for me and what’s going to happen?’” Looney recalled to Bay Area News Group.
