Kevin Durant’s accomplishments led his hometown to hold a celebratory parade Thursday — which will be known as Kevin Durant Day.
The Warriors superstar is being honored by Seat Pleasant, Md., partly because of a social media push to recognize him after KD captured the Finals MVP award and won the NBA title with Golden State in June.
“Social media went crazy after the championship win, and people were saying something needs to be done for Kevin,” Seat Pleasant Mayor Eugene W. Grant told Rhiannon Walker of The Undefeated. “We went to work and reached out to all of our partners in the community and asked them to be a part of a committee to plan this event.
