OAKLAND -– Steve Kerr on Friday went public with a tidbit of information most NBA coaches opt to keep private.
The Warriors coach wanted it known that his ballot for Western Conference All-Star Game reserves included Portland guard Damian Lilliard.
“He’s a great player,” Kerr said in his pregame news conference. “He should have been an All-Star. I voted for him, for the record.”
Maybe Kerr’s sharing this nugget is related to the fact that Lillard and the Trail Blazers are in Oakland –- Lillard’s hometown –- to face the Warriors at Oracle Arena.

Or maybe Kerr still recalls Lillard’s 51-point outburst against the Warriors in a Trail Blazers victory on Feb.
