Barriers and San Francisco police couldn't hold back surging fans at the Warriors championship parade Monday, and thousands of people poured onto Market Street in spite of crowd-control measures.
Fans began hopping the barriers at Market and Kearny a few hours into the parade, according to an SFGATE photographer on the scene. SFPD officers gathered around the team buses in an attempt to keep fans from getting too close, and some buses had to slow to a crawl for everyone's safety as players and fans celebrated the team's fourth NBA championship in eight years.
As the players approached the Powell Street cable car turnaround, the parade had turned into a march with thousands of fans trailing the entourage of buses.
