NEW ORLEANS — JaVale McGee has gone from training-camp invitee to starter — for one game, at least.
With center Zaza Pachulia out with a right wrist contusion for the third straight game, McGee filled in for the Warriors’ 113-109 win Tuesday night over the Pelicans. It marked McGee’s first start since Jan. 13 with Dallas, when he made a spot start for Pachulia in the Mavericks’ loss to Oklahoma City.
McGee had nine points on 4-of-5 shooting and five rebounds in 16 minutes Tuesday. On the first play of the game, he soared for a putback layup.
