My colleague Ann Killion wrote a persuasive column debunking the notion of Warriors forward Kevin Durant as a villain.
The chorus of Durant haters seemed to grow after the Warriors flawlessly landed in the NBA Finals. Some fans still feel Durant abandoned the Oklahoma City Thunder last year to join the Warriors and chase a ring.
About the same time Killion wrote her column, I attended an event at Lincoln Elementary School in Oakland's Chinatown. Durant was there as a representative of his own foundation.
