OAKLAND — Earlier this season, a couple hours before his Blazers faced the Warriors in a regular season game, Terry Stotts was asked about slowing Golden State’s star-filled attack.
“I saw an ESPN commercial asking which Warrior was going to go off,” Stotts shook his head. “They didn’t mention Ian Clark. He’s averaging like 22 against us.”
The Warriors struck end-of-the-rotation gold with Clark a couple years back, signing the unknown, undrafted shooting guard to a camp deal after short stints with the Nuggets and Jazz and some impressive work in summer league.
He’s given them strong minutes in different pockets over the past couple seasons — value well above his minimum contract — but remains an occasionally-used option, typically unleashed when Steve Kerr wants a bit more scoring in that second-unit.
