Jim Barnett, the longtime Warriors broadcaster, ran hot and cold during his NBA playing days. On nights when he was feeling it, he might launch from anywhere inside the half-court line, not unlike a certain modern Warriors star.
"I would take shots without even thinking of running a play or throwing it to anybody else, like Steph Curry would do now," he said.Barnett never broke any records, like Curry does, but he got hot enough one night to leave a permanent mark on the basketball landscape. There will be reminders of it everywhere Saturday when the Warriors, up 2-0, face the Trail Blazers in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals.
