The injury-hit Golden State Warriors have been shorthanded for weeks now, and the cracks of their limited roster have been showing. Kevin Durant has been nothing short of magnificent in holding down the fort, ably supported by Klay Thompson, who has been scoring with machine-like consistency, but there are limits to the efficiency of such limited basketball, and it takes a toll. The return of Stephen Curry has been bandied about as a kind of panacea, to the point that if you didn’t know anything about basketball, you’d assume that he is some kind of cheat code. In his first game back against Detroit, it took him a half to shake off the rust, and at the end of the day he wasn’t enough to push the Warriors past a scorching Pistons squad.
