Golden State’s Gail Hunter influencing the future of Warriors’ franchise

Growing up with two brothers in Buffalo, New York, the word “tomboy” was almost a right of passage for Gail Hunter. Those afternoons spent drawing up plays on her hand during games of backyard football meant that she could hold her own and play with the boys.

Decades later, Hunter is still drawing up plays. In 2015, she orchestrated the Warriors’ championship parade in Oakland and pulled off the team’s groundbreaking ceremony at the Chase Center earlier this year.

“People like Gail came to the organization with the opportunity to be an architect, not just fill a box,” Warriors’ chief operating officer Rick Welts said.
