The Golden State Warriors are now the defending NBA champions. They defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games and took back the title that was theirs two years ago. Though it wasn’t the same exact team from the year before, defeating Cleveland still felt great.
The Warriors got their revenge in convincing fashion. Games 1 and 2 were absolute blowouts. Then Kevin Durant broke Ohio’s collective heart by leading an 11-0 run to end the game, highlighted by his dagger three-pointer over LeBron James. They dropped Game 4, losing their perfect postseason in the process. But they bounced back and closed it out in Game 5 in front of the rowdy Oracle Arena fans.
