Recently, Mark Medina of The Mercury News quoted Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and Kevin Durant saying that Draymond Green is ‘in the conversation‘ for Defensive Player of the Year.
To be honest, that’s just not the case this season. Before diving into this analysis, don’t get me wrong: I have no beef with Green or his playstyle. This season, it’s just not been Defensive Player of the Year level.
Let’s start off by looking at Green’s numbers.
He’s averaging 1.0 blocks and 1.6 steals per game, ranking 14th and 38th respectively.
