Preseason NBA analysis is usually reserved for rookies and fringe bench players unless something goes wrong with a player with established talent. For former Warriors guard Klay Thompson, things reached that point rather quickly during his second game in a Dallas Mavericks uniform.
Thompson went a paltry 0-for-9 against the Clippers on Monday, which included an 0-for-6 night from behind the arc and four turnovers. Somehow, the numbers undersell the story of his performance. The second Splash Brother had little on-ball explosiveness, hardly created any space for his shots and struggled to find a rhythm with his new teammates.
