OAKLAND — The NBA Finals last year turned from the coronation of the Warriors’ 73-win campaign to a meltdown when they blew a 3-1 series lead, the leaks of which were initiated when Draymond Green was suspended for Game 5.
Green was suspended after being assessed a Flagrant-1 foul for what was called a “retaliatory swipe” to LeBron James after the two tangled on the court and James stepped over Green. It became the huge story line of the Finals as Cleveland stormed back to win its first NBA championship.
For Green, the incident is now well behind him.
