EAST LANSING, Mich. — Very much ingrained in Draymond Green’s identity is his passion for Michigan State. Now, seven years after Green left East Lansing for the NBA, Michigan State showed him the ultimate sign of appreciation on Tuesday when they retired his No. 23 jersey.
Joined by family and friends, Green was honored during a ceremony at halftime of a nationally televised matchup against Duke. During the PA announcer’s introduction, Green walked around the sideline and hugged several current and former Spartans. Then, he made his way to the low block and received a game ball. His 23 was raised to the rafters at Breslin Center, settled distantly in front of a pair of Final Four banners he also helped raise nearly a decade ago.
