NEW ORLEANS — As his Warriors teammates filtered past him late Tuesday night, retreating to the team bus after the final game of a five-city, seven-day road trip, David West lingered in the hallway in street clothes.
“Hey, good to see you,” West said as he shook a security guard’s hand. “The family good?”
West was back at the Smoothie King Center (formerly New Orleans Arena), the building where he began his NBA career as a member of the Hornets for eight years. His current role, savvy reserve center for the Warriors, is a far cry from the All-Star power forward Hornets fans had come to revere.
