The Golden State Warriors knew Damian Jones was a project when they drafted him with the last pick of the first round of the 2016 draft. An athletic center with size and bounce, he was still very raw on skills and awareness.
Over his first two years, and even the preseason of this third, Jones didn’t show much promise. Despite his great tools, he did not show NBA awareness on either end, and was generally lost. He was good but not great in the G-League, and barely played in the NBA.
The Warriors lost three good centers this offseason in Zaza Pachulia, David West, and JaVale McGee.
