PORTLAND, Ore. -- Standing in front of a photo of his celebrating father in the depths of the Moda Center, interim head coach Luke Walton worried that maybe his Warriors played too well in Monday's preseason debut.
"It might be on them that they set the standard too high," Walton said before playing in Portland, the city where his father, Bill, won the 1977 NBA Title. He was right. Three days ago the Warriors looked as if they never stopped playing after the NBA Finals in a 95-87 win over Toronto. On Thursday, in a 118-101 loss to Portland, they looked like a team that might need some tuning before officially beginning defense of its NBA crown.
